Interprating Coordinator & Sales Intern Los Angeles

Translation:

In the role of Translation Intern, the intern will be performing a variety of tasks. These tasks will include learning a multitude of software programs, including Trados, DTP Software such as InDesign and Adobe, Sage Accounting, our proprietary database of translators, and other technical components. In addition, interns will be working with a variety of departments within the company, as well as external contacts such as clients, translators, and DTP professionals. They will be getting a wide exposure to the inner workings of Project Management for a multitude of projects with unique requirements.
The program will ensure that the intern understands how to manage projects from A to Z. These projects start with analyzing potential projects, which includes Word Counts, formatting and Desktop Publishing requirements, as well as understanding specific instructions from the clients. Once a project is approved, the intern will be taken through the entire process of starting the project, entering it into the system, translation and DTP selection, following up with linguists and DTP specialists, negotiating as needed with them, providing them appropriate instructions for each job, through job completion. Before a job is completed, there is an editing and review process to ensure that the instructions were followed completely. Once it is determined that the job has been done correctly, the project gets sent to the client, and then the project gets closed in the accounting system.

Sourcing:

As a Sourcing Intern, the intern will have an opportunity to work with our proprietary databases, several types of software, project management, linguist recruitment and negotiation skills, as well as the processing of linguist information. This position entails an extensive amount of research on the internet, social media sites, trade organizations, and other sources to locate, reach out to, and recruit linguists for assignments worldwide in a multitude of languages, with various technical requirements.
The intern will receive hands-on experience in regards to the daily functions of the Sourcing Department. This includes instruction in vendor recruitment, screening and management systems, maintenance of database processes, and Project Management assistance for large orders from the sales team. They will also get experience working with our operations software, and entering data and important information so we are able to input orders into the system, and then work on specific sourcing requirements.
While working in the Sourcing Department, interns will be trained to utilize and maintain our proprietary vendor database, and other software. These are important industry tools which help to ensure consistency, organization, and reliability between vendors and clients.
As an ISO certified organization, we have very specific training and documentation relating to all aspects of the work that our interns perform. In the sourcing department, interns will begin by shadowing the department head through his daily functions, while receiving instruction in regards to software. Interns will be exposed to and trained in the entire vendor recruitment and onboarding process, and the databases used to maintain our vendors, as well as procuring vendors for specific assignments.
Interns will receive direct instruction and supervision on a day-to-day basis for all aspects of training. At the end of each phase (or as necessary as per her university/sponsor), an evaluation form will be filled out for intern’s mastery of skills and performance.

Interpreting:

While interning for the Interpreting Department, interns will receive hands-on, direct experience and training in Project Management for oral Interpreting;both in-person and telephonic. The intern will be trained to enter job requirements and confirmations for both clients and linguists. They will also get real-world experience negotiating with linguists and clients regarding payments and cost factors.
They will also be trained in using our proprietary database to communicate with linguists, and schedule them for assignments. While working in the Interpreting Department, interns will be trained to utilize and maintain our proprietary vendor database, and other software. Sales/Marketing:

We seek to fill a Sales/Marketing internship. We have an ongoing internship program, and at this point we are seeking interns to start either this summer (July or July) or in the fall, around the September/October timeframe. This position is an unpaid position for a minimum of four (4) months and up to one (1) year in the Sales/Marketing Department. The position is full-time and the hours are flexible. The intern will gain great exposure and experience in the Sales/Marketing Department in a growing busy international related business. The intern will be performing work in the areas of internet marketing, database management, data mining, and email marketing campaigns, internet research, recruiting, and special projects, among others.
We would strongly prefer someone who is a sales, marketing or business major. However, we would consider an exceptional person who is not in one of these majors. We require someone with an attention for details, along with good written English and grammar skills, to be utilized to proof and edit documents. Excellent computer skills are a must. We want a sharp person with a thirst for knowledge, is a fast learner, follow directions well, and has good organizational skills. We seek a team player with a great attitude. The person needs to able to multitask, work well with deadlines, and prioritize effectively. Training will be provided.
